How to make paper minis, step by step
A paper mini is the cheapest way to put every character and every monster on the board. Here’s how to make one with MiniFold, from picking the character to holding it folded.
Pick a starting point
In the Character tab, choose a race or beast, gender, build and class, then press “Generate character”. To start from scratch, “Bare body” gives you the clean body and “Block mannequin” fills every part for you to carve.
Change the gear
In the Gear tab, swap the helmet, armor, weapons or cape. You can also add status markers (poisoned, stunned, burning…) and combine them to show what’s going on in the game.
Set the colors
Each color slot (primary, secondary, metal, leather, skin, hair…) recolors every piece that uses it at once, with its lights and shadows.
Edit block by block
Double-click a part to select it and use Add, Erase and Paint. With Mirror X, whatever you do on one side is repeated on the other.
Pose it
In the Pose tab, pick one of the poses or turn each joint with the rings in the viewport. The figure rests on the ground by itself.
Print
Press Print, choose the base and the number of copies, and add the mini to the sheet. Different minis fit in the same PDF.
Tips
- Save your characters in “My characters” to come back to them. To move them to another computer, export the .json file.
- For a group of enemies, print several numbered copies, so you know which goblin is down to its last hit point.
- The back shows on the table too. Give it some love.
